What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a tripeptide composed of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine — and is the most abundant endogenous antioxidant in the human body, produced naturally in every cell. It plays a central role in protecting cells from oxidative stress, supporting immune function, and detoxifying harmful compounds. Often called the "master antioxidant," its levels decline significantly with age and chronic stress.

Key Benefits

🛡️

Free Radical Neutralization

Donates electrons to unstable free radicals, neutralizing them before they can damage cellular structures.

🫀

Liver Detoxification

Directly conjugates toxins and heavy metals in the liver, enabling their safe elimination from the body.

💪

Immune System Support

Supports lymphocyte activity and T-cell proliferation, strengthening the body's immune defenses.

⚡

Mitochondrial Health

Protects mitochondria from oxidative damage, supporting efficient cellular energy (ATP) production.

✨

Skin Brightening

Studied for its ability to inhibit melanin synthesis, with anti-aging and skin brightening effects in research.

🔄

Antioxidant Recycling

Recycles and regenerates other antioxidants — including vitamins C and E — amplifying the body's total antioxidant capacity.

How It Works

1

Electron Donation

Glutathione's free thiol group on cysteine donates electrons to reactive oxygen species, converting them to harmless water molecules.

2

Toxin Conjugation

In the liver, glutathione-S-transferase enzymes attach glutathione to toxins and xenobiotics, marking them for elimination.

3

Antioxidant Network Recycling

Glutathione reduces oxidized vitamin C (dehydroascorbate) and vitamin E radicals back to their active forms, sustaining the antioxidant network.

4

Sirtuin & Longevity Pathway Activation

By reducing oxidative burden, elevated glutathione supports SIRT1 and other longevity pathways linked to healthy aging.
